Jacquie Bloese is a writer of historical fiction. She grew up on Guernsey and her debut novel The French House, set during the German Occupation, was inspired by both family history and her time working as a guide at Hauteville House, Victor Hugo’s residence-in-exile.
The French House was selected as a Richard and Judy winter 2022 bookclub pick, and described as “deeply involving and utterly absorbing”.
Jacquie’s next novel The Golden Hour, set in 1890s Brighton, where she now lives, will be published by Hodder and Stoughton in February 2024. She is currently working on her third book.
Jacquie returns to Guernsey as often as she can. Her favourite places are L’Ancresse and Pembroke, Fermain, Herm Island … and of course Hauteville House!
